Climate change is causing great economic damage in developing countries, which emitted comparatively few emissions and thus contributed less to climate change than OECD countries. The event was showcasing new research findings on how climate change affects households in developing countries. It also showed how adaptation can reduce the damage caused by extreme weather events. Two adjustment instruments were highlighted, which are currently being discussed internationally with great expectations: index-based weather insurance and forecast-based financing.
