The first thematic workshop of the theme "Climate protection and transformation: Decarbonisation - Competitiveness - Quality of life" helped to prepare the 7th Forum Climate Economics on May 5th 2020. Various projects in the funding measure presented their newest research results. The distributional and regional implications of phasing out fossil fuels were explored in break-out groups. Furthermore, the approximately 40 participants of the workshop discussed how the scientific debate relates to the current sociopolitical context. On the basis of this workshop the background paper for the upcoming stakeholder dialogue will be written.
