Although the international community has agreed to limit the global temperature rise to a maximum of 2°C, global greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase. To reverse this trend, a drastic reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is needed and, therefore, a strategy how to distribute climate protection efforts between individual countries. For successful international climate policies, principles of justice have to be considered to fairly distribute contributions to climate protection. The third Forum Climate Economics focused on aspects of justice in climate protection and the role of pioneer states.
