Experiments in Climate and Resource Economics

Martin Kesternich (ZEW Mann­heim and University of Kassel), Carlo Gallier (ZEW Mann­heim), and Christine Merk (Kiel Institute for the World Economy) are orga­nizing the third virtual PhD-Seminar which is on “Experi­ments in Climate and Resource Eco­nomics”. The Seminar is designed to foster an active ex­change among young resear­chers regar­ding their expe­riences with experi­mental methods for conduc­ting research in the domain of climate and resource economics. The young scholars have been encouraged to present work from all stages of research (experimental protocols, pre­liminary results, paper drafts, job market papers). The organisers welcomed sub­missions using various experi­mental approaches such as lab and field experiments, online experiments or survey experiments.

PhD-students and early-career Postdocs working in projects in the funding measure Economics of Climate Change could applied. At the Seminar, they can present their work and receive feedback from senior researchers in the field and the other participants. In addition, an “Ask the editor”-session is planned with Prof. Timo Goeschl, PhD (University of Heidelberg) who is currently serving as a Co-Editor at the Journal Environmental and Resource Economics. Also the results’ political and societal relevance and how to communicate them to stakeholders will be talked through. The overall aim of the Seminar is to create a respectful atmosphere for presenters and an engaging setting for discussions and exchange between all attendees.
