*Due to the Covid19 Pandemic the workshop will now take place online.*
This hands-on workshop in English introduces participants to the basics of successful career development in academic research and provides them with an opportunity to discuss their PhD research.
This workshop aims at introducing PhD-students and Postdocs in their early career phase to academic research in environmental sciences/economics and provides support for the development of skills to master the field. It deals with topics like „How to publish in scientific journals?“, “How to successfully write a project proposal”, „How to present on international conferences?“ „Disciplinary versus inter-disciplinary research“, and “Science Society/Policy interface”.
The workshop consists of two parts. In Part 1 Frank Wätzold will lecture on the basics of academic research. In addition, a guest speaker, Carsten Neßhöver (Sachverständigenrat für Umweltfragen/ Umweltbundesamt), will share his experience with respect to the science-policy/society-interface. Part 2 is moderated by Kati Krähnert. Here, participants will have the possibility to present a chapter of their PhD thesis or an early paper draft to get feedback from senior researchers and discuss it with fellow students.
