The multidisciplinary project PEGASOS deals with the political economy of a national and global coal phase-out. The aim is to find economically efficient and politically viable solutions for the coal phase-out at national and global levels. These solutions should take the distributional effects of different policy options into account. An energy-economy model will be used to analyse the global level. National solutions will be investigated using four prototypical research countries: Germany, Australia, India and Indonesia.
